Indriidae

These species of primates very rarely leave the trees and are very adapt at climping and leaping. Indrids are strict vegetarians, feeding on leaves, fruits, bark and flowers. Avahi are nocturnal while Sifaki [s&-'fa-k] and Indri ['in-drE] are diurnal. Avahi are small and have a long tail, Sifaki are medium in size and also have a long tail, while Indri are the largest and have a short tail. Groups of Indri communicate with mournful and distinctive howls. Scent marking and facial expressions are also important to these species.
